Even as you take the driver’s seat you feel the car come to life, as the ‘welcome mode’ sequentially lights up the instrument and audio displays.

Its bold, dynamic design continues Mazda’s sports car heritage – then adds its own distinctive themes. Like the stylish ellipsoid shapes and complex high tech interior design of the headlamp clusters.

The smooth and sleek side profile sports a curved roof and prominent wheel arches, producing Mazda’s unique signature feel. The rear C pillar shows a sideways ‘V’ design, enhancing the sense of speed.

The front aspect includes a superb evolution of Mazda’s signature five point grille and there is a wide front air intake for a sports car feel, with smaller air scoops at the sides to promote a solid, aggressive yet elegant look.

It is even more of a driver’s car than its predecessor – something you will feel immediately as you settle into the cockpit. Every aspect of your driving enjoyment has been carefully considered.

Particular emphasis has been put on refining even further the uniquely linear, precise handling of the earlier Mazda6. So that you can feel at one with the car like never before.

New suspension delivers exceptional handling performance while assuring suppleness for a more comfortable drive. The feeling of stability, confidence and quietness will delight you.

The exceptionally light, rigid body promotes a more enjoyable and fun drive, as well as having a positive effect on fuel economy. The latter is also helped by the superior aerodynamic performance, which helps to realise arrow-straight high-speed stability.

The braking system has also been improved and stopping distances from 62mph are among the shortest in the class. ABS is standard. The extra reassurance and control only increases your driving enjoyment.

You have the power

Choose the high, mid-range or lower power engine that suits.

A new MZR 2.5-litre petrol engine delivers a sportier, more powerful drive. It has a maximum output of 170PS and optimal torque at low and mid-range speeds.

Even with the larger displacement, the MZR 2.5-litre engine exhibits best-in-class quietness. It also offers superb fuel economy in typical driving conditions within the same compact external dimensions and low weight.

With the first direct catalyst system in its segment, it combines low cost with low exhaust emissions.

The MZR 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine has a Sequential-Valve Timing (S-VT) system, a Variable Induction System (VIS), an electronically controlled throttle and dual silencers.

The MZR 1.8-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine also has a VIS, which enables it to deliver high torque at all speeds. Superior environmental performance comes from the electronically controlled throttle, which promotes fuel economy, along with a single silencer, which limits exhaust emissions while promoting power across a wide rev range.
